DJUDJU Calabash Drinking Bowl – Handmade in Ghana

A calabash bowl turns every drink into a small ritual. Handcrafted from a halved bottle gourd, it sits warmly in your hands and brings a piece of West African drinking culture to your table.

Material & craftsmanship

Each bowl is made by hand in Ghana from a naturally grown bottle gourd. That is why no two pieces look alike: size, shape, grain and shade vary and make your bowl unique. As a natural product, the calabash is biodegradable. It is suitable for food, but please do not fill it with acidic foods or drinks. A solid wood coaster is included for a steady stand and extra protection. Wash the bowl by hand, as it is not dishwasher-safe.

Pairs with

Fill the bowl with a DJUDJU fruit beer or an AFROSODA soda and enjoy your drink the traditional way. It is a real eye-catcher at parties, festivals and relaxed get-togethers, and an original gift for anyone who loves African drinks.

The story

Legend has it that the DjuDju healers brewed their festive drinks in clay pots, and the DjuDju queen served them in calabash bowls. The Tagoe family brought this tradition to Germany. When you raise your bowl, say "Twa Omanye aba" – cheers!
